Sample Introduction

Forget about what people say they are thinking. If you really want to achieve positive results for your clients, in or out of the courtroom, you've got to learn to pay attention to the decisions that are being made when people aren't thinking, at least not consciously.

Eric Oliver, the principal of MetaSystems, is a specialist in implied and nonverbal communications with over 25 years of experience; and more than two decades of working specifically with attorneys. In his latest book for legal professionals, The Facts Can't Speak for Themselves, Mr. Oliver makes the case that jurors, or any group of decision-makers, create their own private case stories which act as a framework for the interpretation of facts. But he goes the extra mile. As an author, trainer and speaker, Mr. Oliver teaches specific methods that legal professionals can use in order to build compelling case presentations by looking for and listening to the very same stories that people cannot help but create; while they say they are thinking about other things.

Mr. Oliver's work has appeared in The Trial Lawyer Journal, TRIAL, and several journals for specific areas of practice. His work has been the subject of feature articles in Lawyers Weekly USA and the American Bar Association Journal. He holds an MA in Human Development and a pending Ph.D. in Psychology. He has also received advanced training in Neurolinguistic Programming, indirect suggestion, and hypnosis.

Please join me in welcoming author, consultant, trainer and our speaker (on this occasion), Mr. Eric Oliver.
